Answering a few simple questions will leave you with 4 piles:
1. KEEP
Design a perfect play space for kids!
- Rotate toys- organize and keep toys sorted into categories. Then hold one or two categories back. Every few weeks or months, sub-in the backups to refresh your collection.
- Purchase toy organizers that are kids friendly and also have a decorative aspect.
- Label bins and boxes – make labels age-appropriate by using pictures, words, or both.
- Maintain – End every playtime with a quick cleanup.
- Tune Up – once or twice a year weed out any toys that aren’t being used.
2. DONATE
Where can I donate toys? There are plenty of places that would happily accept it. Here are just a few examples: charities, children’s centers, daycare, and preschools, babysitting centers at the office or gym, and waiting rooms at the doctor’s office or hospital. Consider giving it to a family and friends, or make trade parties with cousins or classmates, and everyone wins.

3. RE-PURPOSE

4. DISCARD
Discarding may be the hardest, especially when the items have sentimental value. To make it stress-free use a “PICTURE IT” method: Before you say goodbye snap a picture of it. The visual keepsake can make it easier to let it go.

If the teddy bears and plush toys are just too hard to part with, use a toy storage bean bag seat cover to store them for a while, and after a year or so of not using them it will be easier to toss them.
